Wayne Rubber Achieves ISO 9001 Certification
Wixom, Michigan: Wayne Rubber’s Quality Management System has been certified to ISO 9001, the internationally recognized standard for quality management systems, following successful audit by an accredited third-party certification body.

Wayne Rubber is pleased to announce that its Quality Management System has achieved ISO 9001 certification. This milestone reflects a commitment to systematic quality that Wayne Rubber has always applied in practice, and can now demonstrate to customers and supply chain partners with independent third-party verification.

What ISO 9001 Certification Means

ISO 9001 is published by the International Organization for Standardization and represents the global benchmark for quality management systems. More than one million organizations in 170 countries hold ISO 9001 certification. The standard is not self-declared. Achieving it requires an independent accredited certification body to audit the organization’s quality system, verify that it meets the standard’s requirements, and issue a certificate upon successful completion.

For Wayne Rubber, certification means that every element of our quality system, including incoming material verification, in-process controls, final inspection, nonconforming product handling, corrective action, internal audit, and management review, has been documented, implemented, and validated by an external auditor. It is not a statement of intent. It is a verified record of how we operate.

The scope of certification covers Wayne Rubber’s core manufacturing activities: the sourcing, compounding, molding, inspection, and shipment of custom rubber components at our Wixom, Michigan facility.

What This Means for Wayne Rubber Customers

Customers who have worked with Wayne Rubber know that quality documentation, material traceability, and responsive communication have always been part of how we operate. ISO 9001 certification formalizes and independently verifies that the system behind those practices is documented, audited, and subject to ongoing surveillance.

In practical terms, the certification changes what Wayne Rubber can provide in supplier qualification processes. Many OEM procurement programs require ISO 9001 certification as a condition of approved supplier status, particularly in automotive, aerospace, medical device, and defense supply chains. Wayne Rubber can now satisfy that requirement with a current, valid certificate from an accredited certification body.

Specifically, customers can now request and receive:

Certificate of Conformance

Signed C of C with every production lot, referencing part number, lot number, compound designation, and applicable specification. Available for all shipments, not just regulated programs.

Material Traceability Documentation

Lot-specific material certificates linking raw material lot through finished part shipment. Compound supplier C of C, lot number, and test data retained and available on request.

Physical Property Test Reports

Lot-tested physical property data per ASTM D2240, D412, D395, and applicable compound specification. Reports reference the actual production lot, not a historical file.

First Article Inspection Reports

FAI on every new part number and after any tooling, compound, or process change. Dimensional and physical property results against drawing and specification requirements.

Corrective Action Documentation

8D or equivalent corrective action report with root cause analysis, containment, corrective action, and effectiveness verification for any nonconformance or customer complaint.

Supplier Qualification Support

Quality manual, procedures, and documentation for customer second-party audits and supplier qualification questionnaires. Wayne Rubber welcomes customer audits as part of the qualification process.

The Quality System Behind the Certificate

ISO 9001 certification is the external validation of a quality system that has always been the foundation of Wayne Rubber’s manufacturing operation. The discipline behind the certificate reflects the way this company has been run: careful about what comes in, careful about what goes out, and accountable when something goes wrong.

Our quality system operates across four integrated stages: incoming raw material and compound verification before production release, in-process monitoring and control during molding and cure, dimensional and physical property inspection before shipment, and a closed-loop corrective action system that requires root cause before any action is closed. Each stage is documented, each record is retained, and each process is subject to internal audit against the standard on a defined schedule.

Achieving ISO 9001 certification required documenting what Wayne Rubber already did well, identifying gaps where processes existed in practice but not in writing, and closing those gaps before the external audit. The audit itself confirmed that the system functions as documented. Surveillance audits will verify that it continues to.

ISO 9001 and Industry-Specific Quality Requirements

ISO 9001 is the foundation. The industries Wayne Rubber serves carry additional quality requirements layered on top of that foundation. Automotive programs increasingly reference IATF 16949 and require PPAP documentation. Aerospace and defense programs reference AS9100 and MIL-spec compound certifications. Medical device programs reference ISO 13485 and require biocompatibility documentation per ISO 10993 and USP Class VI. Food processing programs require FDA 21 CFR 177.2600 compound compliance and lot-specific traceability.

Wayne Rubber’s quality system supports the documentation requirements of all of these industry frameworks within the ISO 9001 foundation. Customers in regulated industries should contact our quality team at the program outset to confirm that their specific documentation requirements are addressed in the quality plan before production begins.

What Comes Next

ISO 9001 certification is not a destination. It is a management system that requires sustained operation, ongoing internal audit, and periodic external surveillance audit to remain valid. Wayne Rubber is committed to maintaining the certification through those requirements and to using the management review process it requires as a genuine mechanism for quality improvement, not as a compliance exercise.

For current customers, nothing changes in how we work together. The quality practices and documentation you have already received from Wayne Rubber are exactly what the certified system produces. For prospective customers in industries where ISO 9001 certification is a prerequisite for supplier approval, we are ready to support your qualification process now.
