About O-Ring Standards

AS568 Standard

The Aerospace Standard 568 is the primary o-ring sizing standard used in the United States. Maintained by SAE International, AS568 defines o-ring sizes in inches across four dash series: -0XX (1.78mm CS), -1XX (2.62mm CS), -2XX (3.53mm CS), -3XX (5.33mm CS), and -4XX (6.99mm CS). AS568 sizes are the most widely stocked and commonly specified in North American industrial applications.

ISO 3601 Standard

ISO 3601 is the international metric o-ring sizing standard used throughout Europe, Asia, and global supply chains. Dimensions are specified in millimeters. ISO 3601 is divided into four parts covering fluid power seals, general applications, quality acceptance criteria, and dimensional inspection. ISO sizes are essential for metric engineering applications and international OEM specifications.

Metric O-Ring Sizes

Metric o-rings follow a simple ID x CS millimeter designation (e.g. 20×3 means 20mm inside diameter, 3mm cross section). Metric sizes are widely used in European hydraulic and pneumatic systems, industrial machinery, and fluid power applications. Wayne Rubber can supply metric o-rings in all standard cross sections from 1.0mm to 7.0mm.

JIS B2401 Standard

The Japanese Industrial Standard JIS B2401 defines o-ring sizes used in Japanese-manufactured equipment. JIS sizes are organized into P-series (piston seals), G-series (general purpose), and V-series (vacuum applications). JIS o-rings are commonly required for Japanese automotive, hydraulic, and industrial equipment maintenance and OEM supply.
